Compare CT systems for your practice
Tick what matters to your hospital and I'll rank the systems that fit, with the tradeoffs for each. The medicine counts most. Room, volume, service and budget fine-tune the order.

Browse every system I've scored
I've rated 33 systems on the same criteria and fully reviewed 10. Only reviewed systems are scored unless you switch on preliminary scores. The rest are marked “Not yet reviewed” and can still be compared.

Compare selected systems
Pick up to four systems. My ratings and the published specs are in separate blocks so you can tell opinion from spec.
Other CT systems on the market
123 more scanners you may come across. I haven't scored these, so they're here for reference.

What each system needs from your building
The scanner's footprint is not the room size. Use this table to rule things in or out, then get a current site drawing for the exact system before you build.
| System | Planning room | Power | Shielding | Delivery / rigging path | Other site needs |
|---|
Values summarize the reviewed manufacturer or provider planning materials. Refurbished CT requirements are serial-number, table, tube, cooling and configuration specific. Local code and the approved site drawing always control.
How to read the scores
The scores are my opinion, built from published specs and what I've seen work in veterinary hospitals. A low score here doesn't mean a bad scanner. The same system can be a great dental CT and the wrong choice for cardiac work.
Ratings are my opinion from 20 years in veterinary imaging. Service reflects the U.S. service network I see in the field: trained engineers, parts, response time and software support.
My ratings vs. published specs
The 0–10 ratings are my opinion. Room, power and other site figures come from manufacturer or provider planning materials. The compare table keeps them in separate blocks.
My general-practice recommendation
Off by default. Switch it on and CT Plus gets +0.75 and conventional multidetector CT gets −0.75 for a general practice without advanced needs. The cards show it.
Adjustments
Limited room (−1.40, or −0.55 to check), high volume (−0.80), advanced cardiac (−1.35) and weak spots in what you picked (up to −1.20) are shown on each card with their points.
Close calls
Systems less than 0.2 apart are marked as a close call. That gap isn't a real difference. Look at the tradeoffs, matched cases, a site plan and written service terms.
Not a manufacturer specification, diagnosis, construction drawing, price quote or guarantee. Scores may change as I review more systems. Get a current approved site plan before you build or buy.
